new

My current work is a continuation of several areas of earlier exploration. I have discovered more textile mills here in the south. Danville, VA proved to be especuially rich in existing structures, and recently I revisited  New England milltowns. Idiosyncratic storefronts are still to be found and I continue to drive the back roads not kknowing what lies around the next bend.  In love with rust, I am fascinated by industrial wastelands.  A second Arts and Science Council grant allowed me to pursue this love. Ttitled “The Beauty of Waste” the project included 50 studies made at recycling yards and abandoned sites  Some of my new work is more abstract and with a tighter focus; simple everyday objects, when carefully observed, can reveal a wealth of pattern, detail and a fantastic color palate.
