urban

I have long been interested in the complex landscapes of cities and the juxtaposition of different historical periods they offer. This grouping of images includes sites both old and new, pitted and smooth, abandoned and restored. The old industrial areas are of particular interest, as are warehouses and grain silos along the tracks. A few solitary remainders survive amid new constrction. Rusted boxcars stand not far from Charlotte’s gleaming skyscrapers. Ghostly faded advertising signs for long-closed stores: old mills; empty for now, soon to be turned into pricey lofts and food emporiums.
